Biden Suffers Major Loss in D.C. Swamp – McCarthy Has Joe Over a Barrel Now on the Debt Limit

What’s Happening:

Democrats are pretty ticked that Republicans run the House, right about now. Because of a slim majority, Republicans are calling the shots. And House Speaker McCarthy has refused to blindly raise the debt ceiling for Joe Biden–so he can spend even more of our children’s money.

For a while now, Biden has assured our financial collapse by refusing to negotiate with Republicans. Even though he needs McCarthy to get his debt ceiling raised, old Joe refuses to do what every president has done since the dawn of America. But now, it looks like Biden doesn’t have much of a choice.

From The Hill:

The president is facing abysmal approval ratings as he heads into the Tuesday summit with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and other congressional leaders, who have until June 1 to reach a deal that would avoid the nation’s first default.

Republicans, meanwhile, are entering the debt ceiling talks more unified than ever, with Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) signing on to a letter with 42 other Senate Republicans backing McCarthy’s position that it is time for the White House to agree to spending cuts as part of a deal.

Joe Biden will be meeting with Speaker McCarthy this week over the debt ceiling debacle. Biden has refused to negotiate with House Republicans. But with Joe’s approval crashing, he doesn’t seem to have much of a choice.

Biden is facing a tough re-election battle. His approval has hit an all-time low. On top of that, he is losing to Donald Trump in a recent 2024 poll. If he hopes to salvage the dumpster fire that is his administration, he’ll need to avoid defaulting.

On top of that, House Republicans proved they are united by passing their own debt ceiling bill. This bill not only raises the debt ceiling but includes significant spending cuts. Biden can’t blame Republicans for this crisis, since they are offering solutions.

Meanwhile, Biden is sitting back and doing nothing as we near an economic catastrophe. Unless he is smart enough to actually make a deal, the United States will hit the debt ceiling.

We know that Joe Biden is not really calling the shots. Whoever is actually running this administration will have to come to terms with House Republicans. But considering how poorly they’ve run the presidency so far…. we’re not optimistic.

Key Takeaways:

  • Joe Biden might be forced to make a deal with House Republicans.
  • Biden has previously refused to negotiate to raise the debt ceiling.
  • However, tanking approval numbers and bad 2024 polling puts his re-election at risk.
