President Biden lost more than half a million voters to the “uncommitted” movement in this year’s Democratic primaries, an effort that has netted 30 delegates across five states that has underscored frustration within his own party over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war……the “Uncommitted” movement netted 10 percent of the vote in New Mexico and 9 percent in New Jersey, a state with a significant Arab American population.
Those states fall behind Michigan, where more than 101,000 voters cast ballots against Biden earlier this year, and Minnesota, whose 45,000 votes netted the movement 11 delegates, the highest of any state.
Over half a million Democratic voters refused to vote for Biden in the primaries, amounted to ten percent of the vote in some states. In other states, tens of thousands of Democratic voters cast ballots against Biden, resulting in a loss of delegates.
This was not enough to prevent Biden from winning the Democrat nomination. However, it is an ominous sign for his general election chances. Democrat voters, a growing number of them, don’t want Biden running in November. This is due to many factors, but the biggest appears to be his ailing cognitive health and his unpopular decisions on Israel.
Progressives are outraged that Biden has helped Israel. And moderates are angry that he hasn’t helped them enough.
What does this mean for November? These angry Democrats might not show up at the polls if Biden is on the ballot. Or they might cast a protest vote for another candidate, perhaps Kennedy or Trump. Biden won some states in 2020 by just a few thousand votes.
