Much like in 2016, national polls reveal Joe Biden has an edge over Donald Trump. In a recent poll, Joe Biden leading Trump in Pennsylvania, a state he won in 2016. If you only went by liberal media’s polls, you’d think that Biden has the race in the bag.
But there was one question in the poll that should have Trump worried. A large number of those polled believe their state has many secret Trump voters:
But the survey, released Wednesday by Monmouth University, indicates that voters are evenly divided on which candidate they think will win the Keystone State – as a majority of those questioned believe that their communities hold a number of “secret Trump” voters…
One reason may be that 57 percent of registered voters questioned said they believe there’s a sizeable amount of so-called secret voters in their communities who back Trump but won’t tell anyone about their support.
President Trump often calls his supporters the “silent majority.” He suggests that, while they are not vocal as rabid social justice warriors online, they make up a majority of American voters.
It’s no secret that being an open Trump supporter—in many places—is like putting a target on your back. There have been many stories from recent years of MAGA hat-wearing Americans getting beaten up, slandered, or discredited in the media. Plenty of Americans aren’t interested in putting that kind of a spotlight on themselves.
But they are Trump supporters all the way.
We saw this phenomenon in 2016. Even while speaking to a stranger over the phone, some people don’t want to admit who they are voting for. Polls also don’t list first-time voters (as well as young voters). And polls tend to oversample one group while neglecting another.
Then there is the concern that outlets that have shown irrational bias against Trump over the last four years might not be reporting polls 100% accurately.
Secret Trump voters might also be deliberately trying to spoil the left’s agenda. If they shared their true opinions with pollsters, it might show Trump leading or close with Biden. That might inspire the left to get even nastier. Letting the left think they are winning just might give them a sense of overconfidence. Let them think that Biden’s a shoo-in.
Then the silent majority floods the polls in November.
- A new poll reveals 56% of PA voters believe there are many “secret Trump” voters.
- Numerous Trump supporters might be keeping quiet, to avoid attention from the left.
- If this is true, recent polls might not properly convey just how many people will vote for Trump.
