Two years ago, the media had a field day when FBI agents raided Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago. They wanted us to believe that Trump had committed some kind of heinous crime, for holding onto documents from his presidency.
That argument lost steam when it was discovered that Joe Biden had held onto documents from his time as vice president. Many, many documents, both at an office and his garage.
A special counsel was appointed to investigate Biden’s handling of top secret or confidential material. While it is unlikely he will face prosecution over this situation, his aides are fearing what will happen—if certain photos are revealed.
From Fox News:
President Biden’s team reportedly is fearing that photos included in Special Counsel Robert Hur’s imminent report on the handling of classified documents could impact his 2024 reelection bid.
The images could show how Biden stored classified materials, which were discovered in late 2022 in the garage of Biden’s Delaware home as well as in a private office. The classified documents were carried over from Biden’s time as former President Obama’s vice president…
Biden’s aides told Axios that they are fearful former President Trump’s campaign could use the photos against the Democrat incumbent ahead of their likely 2024 rematch.
Special Counsel Hur’s report over Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents is soon to be released. Most don’t think Biden will face prosecution over the mishandling of many documents. But his campaign knows that if photos of what he did are released to the public, it could further damage his re-election chances.
They specifically fear what Donald Trump might do with those photos. Biden and Democrats are trying to nail Trump to the wall over documents he stored in a double-locked closet at Mar-a-Lago.
Yet Biden kept many documents in a garage, where he kept his car. There does not appear to be evidence that Biden took additional steps to secure the documents, even though people like his son Hunter had been using the house as a resident for years.
Biden also kept classified material at an office. It is unknown at this time who had access to that office—and what, if any, of the material was seen by authorized people.
Donald Trump is likely to use these photos to accuse the government of a double standard. He is facing a federal prosecution, despite claiming to have cooperated with federal authorities. Meanwhile, Biden was holding onto many more documents, for years, in far less secure locations.
This might serve to further outrage voters who believe the federal government is biased and corrupt. And it could turn off voters who are on the fence for Biden.
