The war between Israel and terror groups reached a temporary ceasefire recently. This was to ensure that some of the hostages taken by Hamas were returned home. There are still hundreds of people missing–and Israel is still committed to defeating the terror group.
But during this pause, Biden expressed doubt about the number of Palestinian victims cited by Hamas. The terror network is not a trustworthy source of information, and Biden said so.
But that appeared to outrage progressives, who have opposed Israel from the start. And so, the president did something to appease the group.
From Fox News:
President Biden reportedly issued an apology to several prominent Muslim-American leaders after openly questioning the accuracy of the death toll figures from Gaza…During the meeting, Biden listened to the leaders describe people they knew who were directly impacted by the conflict in the Middle East.
“I’m sorry. I’m disappointed in myself,” Biden told the group, according to the Washington Post.
Critics will no doubt be outraged that Biden apologized. Hamas has not been providing accurate information since the start of the war. The group had previously spread the lie that Israel attacked a Gaza hospital, when in fact the missiles were sent from within the region.
Despite Biden’s apology to these Muslims, it does not change the reality of the problem. Until the numbers can be verified, Hamas’s claims cannot be trusted. And now, Israel has vowed to find the truth.
From Daily Wire:
“We will expose the Hamas lie of inflated civilian casualties in Gaza, just like we have dismantled all their other lies,” he tweeted. “As every day goes by, we learn of additional Hamas combatant deaths. We will continue to fight Hamas while respecting humanitarian law.”
Israel is standing by their claim that Hamas is lying about the number of civilian casualties caused by the war. The nation vowed to uncover the truth. It has also committed to fighting Hamas while doing what it can to avoid civilian deaths.
Progressives, siding with anti-Israel forces, have accused the Jewish nation of committing “genocide” while fighting Hamas. These groups have ignored reports that Israel delayed a land invasion of Gaza for weeks, to allow civilians to evacuate. Israel repeatedly warned Palestinians to leave the region before they entered. It was Hamas who reportedly prevented some from doing so.
The IDF claims that Hamas has “exaggerated” the number of women, children, and elderly who have died. They pointed out that the numbers provided by Hamas have “underrepresented” men ages 17-35, which is the combat age. Israel appears to be accusing Hamas of attributing terrorist deaths to civilian numbers.
Key Takeaways:
- President Biden apologized after questioning Hamas’s report of Palestinian deaths.
- Israel has vowed to uncover Hamas’s alleged misreporting of civilian casualties.
- IDF has accused Hamas of exaggerating the number of women and children killed in the war.
