Jerry Nadler (D-NY) remarked that “nobody’s going to talk about cognitively impaired now,” referring to Biden’s energy throughout the more than hourlong speech.“I kind of wish sometimes I was cognitively impaired,” Biden jokingly replied.
Why on earth would he even consider joking about something like that considering all the criticism about his state of mental health? He just doesn’t get it which makes people wonder even more if he really has all his mental faculties.
Biden stood before a joint session of Congress for the fourth time on Thursday night. It was his third State of the Union address, and he had several off-the-cuff moments while facing several hecklers. He wanted to show the world he wasn’t suffering from cognitive decline.
Verbal gaffes and awkward moments have plagued Biden during his term in office. This has fueled negative speculation about his age and mental acuity as he seeks reelection. He even caught Republicans by surprise in an unscripted moment when he mentioned the young Georgia woman allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant. Still, he got her name wrong, calling Laken Riley “Lincoln Riley” in his address.
