When a deranged gunman tried to assassinate the former President Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, he sadly ended up murdering the beloved volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore, a married father of two.
Comperatore spent his final moments on this earth saving his family. He used his body to shield them from the bullets that were flying at Trump. Sadly, Comperatore ultimately lost his life on that devastating day.
Since the assassination attempt, President Joe Biden has desperately been trying to speak to Comperatore‘s widow Helen on the phone. Unfortunately for the president, however, Helen is not having any of it.
From The Daily Caller:
“I didn’t talk to Biden,” Helen told New York Post. “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”Helen clarified her stance on politics, expressing no animosity towards Biden. “I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics. I support Trump. That’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden,” she added. “He didn’t do anything bad to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”
It may seem brutal to some to turn down a call from the president in this way. However, what Helen did is also understandable when looking at the bigger picture.
For years, Biden and his fellow Democrats have used dangerous rhetoric to effectively portray Trump as the root of all evil. They’ve called him a threat to democracy on a daily basis. They’ve also gone so far as to accuse him of being a deranged dictator that is reminiscent of Hitler.
This type of rhetoric could lead to a deranged shooter thinking that taking Trump out is the best thing for the world. Like every other American, Helen has witnessed this rhetoric from Biden and his supporters for years. Therefore, it’s easy to see why speaking with Biden so soon after her husband’s murder is too much for her to bear.
Biden’s ‘Bullseye’ Comments On Trump
It should also be noted that just days before the shooting, Biden’s official social media account stated that the president wanted to put Trump in a “bulls-eye.” While Biden has admitted that it was a “mistake” to use this terminology, he hasn’t apologized for it. Instead, he has continued to push the narrative that Trump’s rhetoric is the source of the problem here.
Imagine if Trump had said the same thing about Biden, only for an assassination attempt to be launched against the president a few days later. The mainstream media would lose their minds. We’d never hear the end of accusations that Trump had directly incited an assassination attempt on Biden. Since it was the other way around, however, Biden is basically being given a complete free pass.
In the end, Helen should be applauded for having the courage to reject President Biden’s phone call. Right now, she should be focused on grieving with her family. If speaking with the president is not going to help that grieving process, Helen is wise to turn down that opportunity.
Here’s hoping that Biden respects her wishes and leaves her family alone.
