Joe Biden has always been clear: he didn’t have anything to do with his son Hunter’s overseas business dealings. And he hasn’t wavered on this stance since becoming President, either.
While on the campaign trail in August 2019, he said (via Politico): “I have never discussed, with my son or my brother or with anyone else, anything having to do with their businesses. Period.”
But new evidence has recently come to light, and it casts doubt on Biden’s statement.
A report appeared in the New York Post yesterday, and claims that in fact, Joe Biden did meet with Hunter’s business associates at a dinner in Washington D.C.
This allegedly happened when Joe was Vice President in the Barack Obama administration, and the evidence comes directly from Hunter’s abandoned laptop.
Joe has been trying to distance himself from his son’s troubles for some time, but this is the sort of news that makes people wonder: just how much involvement did Joe really have?
Here’s part of the Post’s report:
Joe Biden met with Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakhstani business associates of his son’s at a dinner in Washington, DC, while he was vice president, records on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop show.
The dinner, on April 16, 2015, was held in the private ‘Garden Room’ at Café Milano, a Georgetown institution whose catchphrase is: ‘Where the world’s most powerful people go.’
However, it doesn’t end there.
Apparently, Hunter received an email the very next day from Vadym Pozharskyi, one of the executives who worked at the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma.
The email is dated April 17, 2015 and reads as follows:
Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together.
It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure.
It’s important to remember that at the time, Hunter was on the board at Burisma. He was receiving a handsome $83K+ salary and many higher-ups have questioned if he was even qualified for the position.
That’s when rumors began to swirl that in fact, Joe had helped secure the position for Hunter.
Now, despite Joe’s insistence that he never had anything to do with his son’s foreign business dealings or associates, we find they all attended a dinner together.
On top of this, last year Breitbart revealed a photograph showing Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden with oligarch Kenes Rakishev of Kazakhstan, another business connection.
At this point, the evidence is really mounting.
While nobody can say for certain that Joe used his influence to help Hunter land the Burisma job, it seems unlikely that he never spoke about business at all with Hunter.
And according to the information we have now, Joe Biden almost certainly met with Hunter’s coworkers, and probably on more than one occasion.
So far, though, President Joe Biden hasn’t said much of anything about his son. Maybe he thinks that by ignoring it, the problems will all go away.
But right now, it seems like Hunter’s potentially shady business dealings are going to haunt the family for quite a while.
Key Takeaways:
- New evidence suggests Joe Biden met with Hunter Biden’s business partners.
- The information comes from an email on Hunter’s laptop, and some photo evidence.
- This contradicts Joe’s frequent claims that he never had anything to do with his son’s business affairs.
