Joe Biden is facing a major problem. He’s got to run against Trump in 2020.
But even worse than that, he’s got to pull his fractured party together. The primary battle has been ugly at times.
And there are many supporters from other candidates that might not be eager to jump on board the Biden train.
It seems like a wave of resistance is growing against him even before he’s scored the nomination.
On Tuesday night, Joe Biden’s campaign was celebrating his latest primary night triumph.
By Wednesday morning, #NeverBiden, #WriteinBernie and #DemExit2020 hashtags began trending on Twitter.
There’s no question it’s been a banner two weeks for Biden. But lurking in the background of his sudden ascension to all-but-presumptive nominee is evidence that at least some Bernie Sanders supporters might not migrate to him in November, weakening him in the general election.
Woah. Even with much of the primaries left, Bernie supporters are building a movement against Joe Biden.
They are pushing “NeverBiden and other hashtags to trend online. It’s possible that a large portion of liberals and leftists will join this movement, and not support the nominee.
It’s no secret that “Bernie Bros” are aggressive about their support. They have said in the past they will not support the party if Sanders doesn’t get the nomination.
Could that mean a serious movement across the party?
Just think about this. Way back in 2016, Sanders lost at the last second to Hillary Clinton. Many of his supporters thought the nomination was stolen from him.
What would they do if it happened, again?
The outrage could be very fierce. We might see many Bernie fans sit out on November 3. Or worse (for Biden), they will be voting for Donald Trump!
