Thanks to recent primary wins, Bernie Sanders is the Democrats’ frontrunner. But some party members are fed up.
They don’t like the fact that Bernie isn’t even a member of their party.
As a senator, he’s a registered independent. That fact hasn’t gone unnoticed by eagle-eyed voters.
Now, a few Florida Democrats are suing to wipe his name off the ballot.
From The Tallahassee Democrat:
Two Tallahassee men who don’t want to see independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders win the Democratic presidential nomination are suing to nullify votes he gets in Florida’s March 17 primary…
“The plaintiffs have the right to cast their March 17 Democratic presidential preference primary votes for those who are really Democrats, not independents…” the complaint says.
Yikes. Two men from Tallahassee are trying to nullify whatever votes Bernie Sanders gets in their March 17 primary.
Their argument? Because the man is normally a registered independent, he has no right to appear on a Democrat primary ballot.
Makes sense, I guess. I can see plenty of long-time Democrats getting upset that Sanders is winning their primary. Especially, if they don’t consider him a real Democrat.
The fact remains that Sanders’ platform is much farther left than any presidential candidate we’ve ever seen (including Barry Obama).
Plenty of old school Democrats aren’t too keen on voting for a socialist. Add to that his recent praise of Fidel Castro’s “literacy program,” there are probably many Floridians looking for an alternative.
The truth is, Sanders could be the easiest candidate for Trump to beat in November. So let him destroy the Democrat party from the inside, right?
But wouldn’t it be fun for moderates to steal the nomination from them and watch a Democrat civil war at the convention? I know I would.
SHARE if you support yanking Bernie Sanders from the Florida primary ballots.
