Liberals have been losing their minds ever since Donald Trump appointed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). Kennedy has become widely despised in leftwing circles, with many Democrats viewing him as a traitor.
The Kennedy family has a decades-long history with the Democratic Party. Over the years, however, Kennedy Jr. has become increasingly disillusioned with the left.
During this past presidential race, Kennedy Jr. was an outspoken supporter of Trump. That’s why he’s been awarded his major public health role.
In the wake of this, it’s been revealed that Democrats’ beloved Barack Obama strongly considered Kennedy Jr. for a position in his own Cabinet. This should indicate to Democrats that Kennedy Jr. may not be as bad as they believe him to be.
From Newsweek:
According to an old report by Politico, after his election win over John McCain, Obama’s team viewed Kennedy as a strong candidate for EPA Administrator, a Cabinet role vital to enforcing environmental laws. His appointment was seen as a move that would satisfy liberal factions of the Democratic Party.“The selection of Kennedy would be a shrewd early move for the new presidential team. Obama advisers said the nomination would please both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sen. Edward M. Kennedy,” the report says.
Obama ultimately decided not to to with Kennedy Jr. The fact that Obama considered him so strongly, however, will likely come as an unwelcome surprise to modern Democrats.
Liberal Meltdown Over RFK Jr. Appointment
This comes as liberals have been throwing temper tantrums left and right about Kennedy Jr.’s appointment.
“I think this is an extraordinarily bad choice,” whined Dr. Ashish Jha, a former Biden administration COVID-19 coordinator and the dean of Brown University’s School of Public Health.
Jha went on to baselessly claim that Kennedy Jr. is dangerous because he won’t let HHS scientists make decisions based on evidence.
Meanwhile, Republicans have been celebrating Kennedy Jr. being appointed as Trump’s HHS secretary.
“Trump has done well by selecting RFK Jr. because he’s got the attention of the public. These issues are not new issues,” said Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is a Republican.
“I believe that the 86,000 workers at HHS…I believe most of them will welcome RFK because they are getting smothered under corporate capture,” Oz added. “These agencies aren’t actually free to do what they want to do frequently.”
As for Trump, he seems to have no regrets about appointing Kennedy Jr.
“I’m going to let him go wild on health,” Trump said at a rally in October.
Kennedy Jr. has been outspoken about being against processed foods. He’s also spoken out against herbicides like Roundup weed killer. Kennedy Jr.’s best known stance, however, is being against childhood vaccines.
“There’s no vaccine that is safe and effective,” he said back in July.
Three years ago, Kennedy Jr. urged Americans to “resist” CDC guidelines that advise when kids should receive routine vaccinations. He firmly believes that childhood vaccines can cause autism, among other things.
Kennedy Jr. has previously said that Trump has asked him to “reorganize” various government agencies. These agiencies include the CDC, the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration. It will certainly be interesting to see how he goes about doing that!
Key Takeaways:
- Liberals lose their minds after Trump makes RFK Jr. his HHS secretary.
- Obama nearly appointed RFK Jr. to his own Cabinet.
- “I’m going to let him go wild on health,” Trump said of RFK Jr.
