For weeks, America watched as radical anarchists ran amuck in six blocks of Seattle. CHAZ/CHOP declared itself an “autonomous zone,” defying the laws of the state and country.
The mayor of the city refused to do anything, even after several people were killed. Only after CHOP residents threatened to “protest” outside her home, did the mayor shut the place down.
Apparently, radical anarchists have not learned the lessons of CHOP. Because not that far away, another group is trying to do the same thing in Oregon:
Portland protesters early Wednesday began to set up tents in the park near the federal courthouse and have barricaded streets to create their own autonomous zone, likened to the since disbanded Capitol Hill Occupied Protest in Seattle…
An unofficial Twitter page attributed to a group of anti-capitalist, anti-fascist teens who call themselves the Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front said protesters want to establish the Chinook Land Autonomous Territory, or CLAT, in downtown Portland.
Antifa-linked activists have been protesting in Portland for over six weeks. The violence has resulted in millions of dollars in property damage. It appears the liberal mayor refused to end the chaos, leading to a group trying to form their own “autonomous zone.”
This pattern is repeating itself in Democrat-run cities all over America. Democrats joined the side of violent protesters in the wake of George Floyd’s death. They ordered their police to stand down in many cases, causing the violence to spread.
Now, radical anarchists appear to have free rein from coast to coast, as Democrats turn a blind eye.
Some critics have wondered why President Trump appears slow to act. But the law is clear that local and state leaders are responsible for maintaining law and order. The federal government can only move in after Democrats ask them for help. Given the regular hostility Democrats show to the president, it is unlikely that they’ll ask for help… until the situation boils out of control.
It’s possible that the president can pressure the mayor of Portland (or the governor) to call up the National Guard or other federal forces. But should these Democrats refuse, Portland will continue to suffer. It seems the liberal mayor of Portland is even more reluctant to confront radicals in his city than the mayor Seattle.
This situation might continue for weeks to come.
- After Seattle’s “autonomous zone” was shut down, Portland radicals set up their own.
- This comes after six weeks of rioting at the hands of anarchists and Antifa-types.
- The Democrat mayor of the city appears unwilling to end the violence.
