Hours After AOC Gets Primetime Convention Spot – She Finds Out Democrats Only Gave Her Pre-Recorded 60 Seconds

The Democratic National Convention is just days away, and they’ve recently revealed their speaker slate. As expected, freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is on it.

However, she was probably expecting more of an opportunity. And as one of the most visible leftist leaders in the nation, most progressives thought she’d play a larger role in the Convention, too.

But it appears the Convention organizers aren’t going to let AOC have much time.

In fact, rather than giving her an actual speech at the event, they’re only going to allow her to submit a pre-recorded message. And it won’t be very long, either.

According to the latest report, while Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Mayor Pete Buttigieg get “live, virtual speeches,” AOC gets much less.

Via The Daily Wire (citing the New York Post):

Ocasio-Cortez will be given just 60 seconds to deliver a pre-recorded message at the Democratic National Convention next week.

This could be viewed as a sign of change for the Democrat party, or at least a potential shift.

It’s possible the Democrats will attempt to change the narrative involving their far-left ideology — many believe the Biden/Harris ticket is the most far-left tandem America has yet seen.

As for AOC and her followers, they’re going to have to content themselves will playing a smaller role next week.

Unfortunately, many leftists and progressives aren’t “content” at all.

For example, far-left commentator Benjamin Dixon tweeted:

Y’all gone fu** around and make @AOC shake the foundations of this entire democracy in 60 seconds just because you arrogant scumbags tried to diminish her impact.

He wasn’t the only outspoken leftist to criticize the move, as many progressives see this as a slap in the face. That goes double considering a few other factors.

For instance, neither Rashida Tlaib nor Ilhan Omar will speak, but former President Bill Clinton is on the docket.

As one other leftist wrote on Twitter:

AOC gets 60 seconds to address the DNC. Rashida nor Ilhan speaking.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Epstein’s pal Bill Clinton & his partner who gave us Trump in the first place will get to babble to their hearts’ content. The Democrats hate progressives more than they want to win.

For her part, Ocasio-Cortez says she’ll just have to make the best of her 60 seconds.

And without other progressive representatives like Omar and Tlaib, one wonders how the Democrat Party is attempting to position itself.

Are they really trying to appear less radical as we approach the November election? That may prove difficult, given the history of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

But either way, we’ll see what many Democrat politicians have to say next week.

Key Takeaways:

  • Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will only get to share a 60-second pre-recorded message at the Democratic National Convention next week.
  • Many progressives slammed the move, saying it feels like they’re being squeezed out.
  • Democrats may be attempting to shift their image in the months before the election.
