Queen AOC Plans For Her New “Army” – She Wants To Recruit 1.5M People Into Her “Civilian Climate Corp”

With Democrats in control in Washington D.C., it’s no surprise to see movement on a number of liberal fronts. The Biden administration has already decided to support many left-wing causes.

This includes climate change, a primary talking point of the left for years. When Biden was campaigning in 2020, he made sure to push the climate agenda and satisfy his Democrat constituency.

But now, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to go a step further.

The controversial AOC once pushed a hefty “green” deal during the Donald Trump term, but it didn’t get enough traction on Capitol Hill. And Republicans might’ve thought it was gone.

But they were wrong.

With Biden in charge and climate-friendly Democrats backing the climate protection push, AOC’s Green New Deal has another chance. This time, it seems part of it will succeed.

However, many didn’t expect this to include a 1.5 million-strong “army.”

From Fox News:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other progressive lawmakers are calling for the creation of a 1.5 million-strong group of civilians to work on federally funded projects addressing climate change as part of their sweeping Green New Deal legislation.

The Civilian Climate Corps would have several goals:

It would strive to “reduce carbon emissions, enable a transition to renewable energy, build healthier and more resilient communities, implement conservation projects with proven climate beliefs, and help communities recover from climate disasters.”

Those 1.5 million would also receive on-the-job-training, and they’d be part of the Corporation for National and Community Service. This agency also runs AmeriCorps.

Lastly, this “army” of sorts would have a job for 5 years, and of course, they’ll be getting paid for their services during that time.

But many are wondering: how do Demcorats intend to pay for this?

Well, President Biden has (unsurprisingly) voiced his support for this proposal. In fact, he signed an executive order during his first week in office that called for the creation of a Climate Corps.

It’ll be part of his $4 trillion spending plan — and supposedly, the Civilian Climate Corps will be funded by a bunch of new tax hikes.

This includes increasing the tax on corporations from 21 to 28 percent, and would also be helped along by higher taxes on wealthy American citizens.

But critics say all of working America will face higher cost-of-living prices, which essentially translates to a “tax.” And some economists are already warning of potentially rising costs across the board.

On top of that, Republicans and Conservatives wonder if a 1.5 million Corps is really necessary just to combat climate change.

And would the job really only last 5 years, or would it continue to ask for funding as the years go on? And where does that money come from?

These are questions well worth asking.

Key Takeaways:

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pushing to create the Civilian Climate Corp. It would recruit 1.5 million members to serve for 5 years.
  • President Joe Biden supported the creation of this group from the start of his term.
  • It will supposedly be funded by taxes on the wealthy, but critics say most of America could see rising costs. And many wonder if this “Climate Corps” is really essential.
