In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer urged the Department of Justice leader to take “immediate action” on the criminal referrals issued by congressional committees for former Trump attorney Michael Cohen…[Cohen] “been referred to the US Department of Justice (DOJ) on at least three separate occasions by Republicans on the House” Oversight and Judiciary Committees and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence “for committing perjury and knowingly making false statements during his testimony at a Congressional hearing and deposition.”
House Republicans put out criminal referrals against Michael Cohen over possible times he lied under oath. They are demanding the Department of Justice to act on these referrals, investigating the former Trump associate.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer called Cohen a “pathological liar.” Cohn had pled guilty to lying under oath in 2018—for which he served time in jail. Republicans are accusing him of lying on “at least three separate occasions” during other hearings.
