After Obama Official Makes “Suckers and Losers Claim,” Kayleigh McEnany Refutes It

As the 2024 election season heats up, the political battlefield is once again awash with claims, counterclaims, and a fair share of recycled accusations. One of the most persistent narratives that just won’t die is the allegation that former President Donald Trump disrespected American veterans by calling them “suckers” and “losers.”

This rumor, originating from a 2020 Atlantic article citing anonymous sources, has been debunked repeatedly, yet it continues to resurface whenever Trump steps into the spotlight.

In a recent episode of “Outnumbered,” former Obama State Department spokesperson Marie Harf tried to breathe new life into this old story, using it to downplay a genuinely compassionate moment where Trump left his secure encasement to assist a supporter at a rally.

But former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany wasn’t about to let that slide. With her usual sharp wit and firsthand experience, McEnany quickly refuted Harf’s claims and blasted the liberal media for continuing to spread falsehoods.

From Daily Caller:
Former Trump White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Thursday refuted former Obama State Department spokesperson Marie Harf’s claim that former President Donald Trump called veterans “suckers” and “losers.”…

“…I have never, in my entire time working around Trump, ever heard him disparage a member of the military, a fallen person who died for this country, ever,” McEnany responded. “And, in fact, I worked on the response to that story and collected dozens of people in the administration who had been there since day one who said that never happened. So that’s reporting — not confirmed and unconfirmed. And I could say an outright lie based on my experience.”

It seems like some folks are still stuck in 2020, clinging to debunked stories like a dog with a bone. Case in point: Marie Harf, former Obama State Department spokesperson, who’s back at it again with the tired old claim that Donald Trump called veterans “suckers” and “losers.” But leave it to Kayleigh McEnany, former Trump White House press secretary, to swoop in with a reality check, armed with facts and a healthy dose of wit.

During a recent episode of “Outnumbered,” Harf tried to downplay a genuinely touching moment where Trump left his bulletproof encasement to embrace a supporter who experienced a medical issue during one of his rallies. Instead of acknowledging the compassion on display, Harf decided to dig up the old “suckers” and “losers” accusation—because nothing says credibility like rehashing a story that’s been debunked more times than a Bigfoot sighting.

But McEnany wasn’t having it. In a sharp rebuttal, she called out Harf for spreading what she knows to be a blatant falsehood. “I have never, in my entire time working around Trump, ever heard him disparage a member of the military, a fallen person who died for this country, ever,” McEnany said. And why should we doubt her? After all, she was in the trenches during Trump’s presidency, handling media firestorms with the kind of grace and poise that would make any public relations guru jealous. When McEnany says it’s nonsense, you better believe she’s got the receipts.

And those receipts? Well, they include none other than former national security adviser John Bolton, who’s no Trump fan himself. Even Bolton, the mustachioed hawk who’s more likely to shake hands with a porcupine than with Trump these days, refuted the Atlantic’s 2020 story that Trump disrespected veterans. He clarified that Trump didn’t attend the cemetery in France due to weather and security concerns, not because of any disdain for those who served. If John Bolton is stepping up to defend Trump on this one, you know the story has less credibility than a three-dollar bill.

But let’s not stop there. Harf’s criticism is like a bad infomercial—“But wait, there’s more!” She added that for every compassionate moment Trump shows, there are “10 moments where he says terrible things about people.” Really, Marie? Ten? That sounds like the kind of fuzzy math that would make even Common Core blush. Sure, Trump isn’t exactly known for sugar-coating his words, but the notion that he’s out there spouting off insults 24/7 is more fiction than fact.

McEnany, with her signature blend of intelligence and sass, pointed out the absurdity of Harf’s argument. Trump’s compassion for his supporters is real and undeniable, and no amount of recycled gossip is going to change that. It’s clear that Harf and her ilk are grasping at straws, trying to keep the old narratives alive in the hopes that they’ll stick. But as McEnany made perfectly clear, the American people are smarter than that. They see through the smoke and mirrors, and they know a good leader when they see one.

Key Takeaways:

  • Former Obama aid revived the debunked claim that Trump called veterans “suckers” and “losers” during a recent episode of “Outnumbered.”
  • Kayleigh McEnany refuted the allegation, stating she never heard Trump disparage the military and labeling the story as false.
  • Despite being debunked by multiple sources, including John Bolton, the accusation continues to resurface in political discussions.
