Joe Biden, much like Nancy Pelosi and numerous other Democrats, love to tout their Catholic faith.
But in recent months, leading Catholic leaders have criticized politicians who profess the faith, but support views contrary to the church.
In fact, some bishops say that Democrats who embrace policies that violate their doctrines should not be given Communion.
This controversy does not appear to be going away, either. Joe Biden was scheduled to speak at Notre Dame’s graduation.
But after a large group of students protested—he just got pulled.
From Washington Examiner:
President Joe Biden will not attend the University of Notre Dame’s 2021 commencement this Sunday, breaking a 20-year tradition.
The decision comes after students at the school and its alumni petitioned Notre Dame’s president, Rev. John Jenkins, not to invite Biden, the second Roman Catholic president, over his pro-abortion policies…
Signers of the petition were “dismayed by the pro-abortion and anti-religious liberty agenda of President Joe Biden” and called on him neither to speak at the graduation ceremony nor to receive an honorary degree from the school.
Presidents and vice presidents have spoken at Notre Dame’s commencement ceremony for twenty years.
Until Joe Biden got the job.
Students and other members of the school’s community, over 4000, demanded Notre Dame’s president rescind his invitation.
It seems like there are still some Catholics who take their convictions seriously.
For a long time, Catholics often sided with Democrats—because JFK was famously the first Catholic president.
But in recent years, the faithful have watched as the Democratic party moved further and further left.
How long does it take before most Catholics join Evangelicals to condemn the anti-religious agenda of the far-left?
Not much longer, it seems.
For college students to break from the left and call out Joe Biden is a big deal.
Of course, the White House says he can’t go because of a “schedule conflict.” M-hm, we believe that.
- Thousands of Notre Dame students demanded Joe Biden not attend their commencement event.
- They accused the Democrat of embracing anti-religious and anti-Catholic views.
- This comes as more Catholic leaders call out Democrats who oppose the church’s teaching.
