Currently, most experts say there really isn’t anyone who can challenge President Joe Biden for the Democratic 2024 nomination. However, not all candidates have entered the fray yet.
And a new one might be unsettling for Biden and the current Democrat party, because he might be even farther left than anyone in the White House now.
In fact, he’s not even running as a Democrat — and some Americans might like that idea.
It’s civil rights activist and former Harvard Divinity School philosophy professor Cornel West, who has officially entered the 2024 race as a member of the “People’s Party.”
This new group labels itself as a “major new independent party that will guarantee health care, housing, quality education, and peace to all.” West added that the presidency is “one vehicle to pursue truth and justice.”
While it’s unlikely that he’ll be a heavy contender, West’s candidacy could really throw a wrench into the works.

West stands for just about everything Republicans don’t, including “ending mass incarceration” (i.e., sending criminals to jail less), widespread abortion rights, and lots and lots of free stuff.
He also said that “democracy creates disruption,” which some are already saying plays into the radical left’s authoritarian, Communist bent.
Unsurprisingly, he calls Trump a “neo-fascist,” but adds that Biden is just a “milquetoast neo-liberal.” Apparently, that’s not good enough – or far left enough – for West and The People’s Party.
West resigned from Harvard’s Divinity School a couple years ago, citing “decline and decay” and that he was only working “in the shadow of Jim Crow.”
It’s clear that West will be running against both Biden and Trump as he doesn’t ally with either major political party, but it also seems obvious that he’s only going to cater to the radical left.
That may not fly as well with a country that desperately needs more moderation and less extremism. But either way, it’s a 2024 shake-up that could make Biden and his entrenched party sweat a little.
The naysayers claim that these “guarantees” that West and others promise are extremely dangerous, and smack of socialist or communist rhetoric.
And it certainly doesn’t exemplify the American dream — rather, it promotes even more laziness, entitlement, disharmony, and total lack of production and unity.
