15 Republicans Ruin SCOTUS 2nd Amendment Victory – They Betray Their Party and Vote for Gun Control

What’s Happening:

This week, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of America’s Second Amendment rights. It knocked down a law from New York and stated that Americans had the right to carry a weapon for self-defense.

But before the ink could dry on the page, Congress was rushing ahead with new gun control limits. And 15 Senate Republicans threw Americans under the bus to support these new rules.

From Fox News:

The Senate passed a bipartisan gun bill late Thursday night in a 65-33 vote…

All 48 Democrats and two Independents voted for the bill along with 15 Republicans.

The Republicans who joined Democrats in voting for the bill were Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, John Cornyn of Texas, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Todd Young of Indiana, and Roy Blunt of Missouri.

Fifteen Republicans turned on the party to pass a new gun control bill backed by the far left. Texas Sen. John Cornyn claimed the new set of restrictions will make America “safer.”

But as with most gun control measures, it is unclear how restrictions on the Second Amendment will prevent shootings.

The new bill will set limits on who can purchase firearms, with “enhanced” background checks on Americans under 21.

The bill will also fund “red flag” laws for states, laws that take guns away from people who have not committed crimes nor had due process.

It is highly unusual that Republican members of the Senate voted for this bill. The Republican Party’s official stance is to defend the Second Amendment.

It is clear from this bill that some of the restrictions fly in the face of the party’s values and platform.

And some of the restrictions will put Americans, including young Americans, at risk—as they will have a harder time purchasing firearms

These Republicans will have a hard time defending their decision to back this bill back home. Some of them face tough re-election odds, while others won’t be up for re-election in years.

But I doubt Americans will forget this.

Key Takeaways:

  • Fifteen Republicans voted for the left’s new gun control bill.
  • The bill will deprive young Americans of guns and fund “red flag” laws.
  • This comes as Democrats push for stronger gun control.
