We Created Politicians

I'll never forget watching a TV political ad in the early 90s and talking to my 80 something year old grandmother about the gubernatorial candidate in it. I asked her what she thought of him and she told me that she didn't like him because he had "shifty eyes". I said "ok" and that was it. I couldn't forget about what she said, even today, and that was 20 years ago. My grandmother has long since passed, God bless her soul, but she taught me something that day. She taught me that people will exercise the right to vote, one of the most sacred rights known to man, without a thought as to what the job entails or what kind of person would be best suited. She could care less that he might have been the right person for the job or that the other candidate could be a good looking straight-eyed crook. It is silliness like that, that creates these monsters we call politicians.

Politicians will say whatever they feel necessary to get elected. Whatever way the political winds are blowing is where you will find a politicians sails in a heated race. I don't care what a politician looks like, what race they are from, or what football team they follow. These things mean nothing on the floor of the Senate or the House of Representatives where they and their peers are voting away our freedoms and confiscating more of our hard earned property. America has become addicted to fame and the famous and like any addiction it is going to end up with a recovery or death. I prefer the recovery. Politicians like entertainers lose sight of what they are supposed to be doing and let the fame and adulation go to their heads. The second a politician believes that he is more important or more intelligent, therefore better suited to run your life, tyranny exists.

How is it that Senator Robert Byrd could spend over 50 years in the Senate. The man had to die of old age to be removed from government. That is a problem. The reason it is a problem is because these types of people create an atmosphere of power over time. It is modest at first. Advancing to chairmanships of committees etc, then the next step is to consolidate power for their party, in order to keep the control they have worked hard to achieve. It is a vicious cycle that is showing its ugliness in the present Congress. Entrenchment in Washington is rotting the core of our republic and "we the people" are the only ones that can restore it in the Founders vision.

Corruption is alot harder when you only have a couple of years to consolidate your power and lobby base then go home on a term limit. I wholeheartedly believe in term limiting. I never used to think that but I have come to the conclusion that term limits will only limit Washington not us. With term limits you can still vote in the same ideology but there will be a fresh face there and not the same power brokers. Term limiting will also make it alot harder to be lazy if you care about who runs Washington and how. Narcissism and contempt for the working class are the norm, not the exception in Washington. If this doesn't change, the 535 people that run Washington are going to cause a civil war among the other 310 million. Think about history and similar situations in history and you will know that I am not being radical saying this. I do not want things to get that bad in America, I don't want bloodshed to solve what attention to detail and perseverance now, will accomplish.

I think we have had enough of the Barbara Boxers, Harry Reids, Charlie Rangels, Maxine Waters, and Claire McCaskills of D.C. They are either going to respect the people that gave them the power and the money to run government or they are going to be run out of Washington on a rail. It couldn't happen soon enough. We created these people by not kicking them out years ago. Apathy, ignorance and blind faith in the wrong people are to blame for this current situation but give us two good elections and we can turn things around. Judgment Day is only 82 days away, Let's Roll!
