The Gipper Is Smiling In Heaven

This year reminds me so much of 1980. Although the circumstances are not exactly the same, the anger at leftist policy realities and the RINO population in the Republican party is dead on. The anger is much more intense now because the population is leaps and bounds more informed and the access to information is unlimited. New York's 23rd Congressional District, and the Governor races in New Jersey and Virginia are an off year set of elections that normally would barely be blips on the political radar but this year that has changed. These three elections have been hyped as a direct referendum on President Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress. The Governor races are important because both New Jersey and Virginia were Democrat sweeps just last year. If Republicans can take these two races the midterm elections next year are going to be a disaster for Democrats and they know it.

In 1980 we had inept and corrupt leftists running the government. Deficits were out of control and the economy was in shambles with inflation in double digits. President Carter at the time was the most inept of all of them. He was telling people to turn their thermostats down and put on sweaters in the winter. He couldn't solve the problem or didn't want to. How he thought that he was going to be re-elected in '80 I have no clue. Four years earlier Carter had defeated incumbent RINO President Gerald Ford with a campaign of change, and a promise of transparency and honesty. Four years later after a Presidency of complete failure Conservative Ronald Reagan crushed Carter and the Senate was taken back by Republicans for the first time since the early 50's. Ronald Reagan was the first true Conservative as President since Lincoln. The Reagan Revolution brought us two decades of prosperity, including lower taxes and a 20% increase in revenue to the government.

As much of a dunce President Carter was he was nothing compared to Barack Obama. Obama is a Marxist bent on taking over the economy and creating an all powerful central government. He is being helped along by a filibuster proof Senate and a Democrat controlled House of Representatives. The only thing stopping them from legislating away all of our freedoms is us "We The People". The polls in New Jersey are leaning for the Conservative Republican in a state Obama won by 15 points last November. In Virginia the Conservative Republican is ahead by double digits. This shouldn't be happening in a normal Presidency but Obama is an extremist and is scaring the average American. The great thing is that these elections are scaring the leftist Democrats. I am hoping for a sweep of these elections to send a message to Washington to beware the coming hurricane in 2010. New Jersey is a leftist state and it will be an incredible statement if a Conservative wins there, especially considering that many Conservatives have moved away due to the oppressive taxes and regulation. New Jersey is also as corrupt as Obama's home town Chicago.

The third race, a special Congressional race in upstate New York is the most interesting. The seat was held by a Republican that was called on to be the Secretary of the Army, necessitating the election. According to New York law there is no primary so the RINO Republican establishment hand picked Dede Scozzofava another RINO to run as the Republican candidate. Seeing that Conservatives were going to be losers all the way around, (just like in the 2008 Presidential election) Doug Hoffman a virtual unknown decided to run on a third party ticket from the Conservative Party. Immediately, prominent Conservatives around the country started endorsing Hoffman, like Sarah Palin and Fred Thompson while the Republican National Committee and a number of Congressional Republicans supported Scozzofava on the party line. This has angered Conservatives around the country and it is finally dawning on people how damaging RINO's are to Republican and Conservative success.

The existence of RINO's in the Republican party is pure corruption, period. RINO's are liberals and there is a separate party for them. The only way RINO's make it in the Republican party is from back room deals and local Republican party bosses making money or business deals to endorse a guaranteed loser to the Democrat candidate. These are the things we have to overcome. We must clean our own house first and the New York Congressional race is the epitome of what has to happen. All of the excitement starts bright and early Tuesday. This time around it is the grassroots tea party movement that is leading this Conservative renaissance. I am glad Ronald Reagan didn't have to see the downfall of the Republican party in his dying days this decade but I know he is smiling in heaven knowing that his legacy is what is powering the Conservative resurgence.

Reagan revitalize America by giving people the opportunity to succeed. The nit-wits in power now are taking that away more and more with each passing day. Small family businesses that create most of the jobs in America are being squeezed out because of the Estate Tax.
