The Fed vs The States
When people first learn about civics and government in school, they never pay attention. Teenagers are too preoccupied with being teenagers to care how the country was formed and why government entities operate as they do. I was the same way. I was too busy trying to figure out what everyone was doing that night. I didn't start becoming interested seriously until about my junior year in high school. That year I was a bit more engaged and asked alot more questions than my peers. Even then I remember thinking that the President was all powerful and Congress was all powerful and that the states were just states and didn't have armies and navies and authority similar to the federal government. I guess the feeling at the time was I would rather have the local sheriff's deputy or city cop question me than the FBI. The FBI had jurisdiction over the entire country and the sheriff only the county. FBI agents were much more intimidating, at least on television. Of course later on I realized that the comparison was apples to oranges, but I think to this day there are many people that still believe that the states are subservient to the federal government. This couldn't be further from the truth.
The left is using this ignorance based belief to expand the power of the federal government. What most people forget or never learn is that the United States of America is just that, a country of 50 united states. We all know that we started off as 13 colonies. The different colonies before the Revolution were as different as separate countries. Sure they spoke the same language and had the same ruler but they developed much differently depending on region. Most colonies started as gifts from the King to his friends and different noblemen of England. Then the owner of the newly formed colony would lease the land to settlers. Many were settled by different protestant denominations and all had their own interests at heart. In fact the United States might not have happened at all if not for intense diplomacy especially during the Constitutional Convention. The tyranny of monarchical rule was what finally gave them something to unite behind however and the Founding Fathers knew that the states would be stronger if bound politically than separated as 13 different sovereign countries. It was obvious then, and with hindsight we can see it was the best way forward. However not everyone was convinced. If you were from Virginia for example, you were a proud Virginian first, then an American. The national identity took a few years to become common in society. Also, travel between the states was nowhere near what it is now, so leaving say Virginia to visit Rhode Island was something that just didn't happen unless you were transporting goods for a living. People then were deathly afraid of tyranny again reforming in a central government, sort of the same wonderful sensations we are all having now.
The delegates to the Constitutional Convention made sure that "states rights" would not be trampled on by forming a federal government. In order to do this the Founding Fathers had to spell out in detail what the federal government was responsible for and to their credit the Constitution does spell out exactly what the federal government is responsible for and what they are not. What they are not responsible for is left to the states and the people as per the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. The intentions are clear that regional law is appropriate for what any certain region thought was best for themselves. In other words, maybe people in Virginia like to talk on their cell phones in the car. If they do not pass a law against it then the other states have no authority to use the federal government to force them otherwise. It is a state issue as are most things that the federal government has their noses in as we speak. The words in the Constitution are very clear to me but of course other people might not interpret the same words exactly as I do. However being a history buff and having a fascination with the Revolutionary era I have read the writings of the founders and learned from their own words exactly how they interpreted the words. Those opinions are the Founding Principles and need no further interpretation, period.
Over the years and during many different crises the leftists have managed to find ways around the Constitution, or like with health care, blatantly disregard it. Now after 233 years we have a monster of a federal government that is growing all the time. It asserts it's power over the states by confiscating taxes from the states citizens then withholding money for road maintenance. For example during the 1970's the maximum speed limit in all states was 55 miles per hour. It wasn't federal law, it was state law forced by the federal government by threat of withholding highway funds that nearly every state government had gotten themselves dependent on. It is never ending. We have had to fight this for years and years. The leftists are devious and will use whatever means they have at their disposal to get their way. They will change law to accommodate their agenda, then change it back when it doesn't.
The answer is to create another Amendment to the Constitution that closes all the loopholes and restores the entire country back to what the Founders envisioned. The loophole closing language must be concrete and irrefutable without doubt as to what the intentions of the Amendment are. Constraint of power is imperative to the further health of our republic. Healthier states with their Constitutionally guaranteed sovereignty in social affairs allows one to move to another state that best suits them if they are not happy with the one they are in. If the federal government controls everything there is no escape, unless you want to move out of the country. I could do without the drama of having to always fight the leftists when they are in office from stealing our liberties as well. Something legally binding has to be done to stop them. I know that liberty is never as sweet as the liberty that has been fought for by yourself but this is ridiculous. The states and their rights must be restored right away.

You sir are correct! However, as a side note, Everone knows I am an American..but I always make sure they know I am from The Republic of Texas!
Like I tell my friends here in Fl. If something bad happens, I am taking my gun and going back to Texas. America is my soul, my heart is Texas!

Everybody loves Texas except the leftists. I agree, I believe Texas is going to be the example for the rest of the states to follow. God Bless Texas! I think I might write about Texas in the future.

Our Nation will be experiencing very tough times ahead, we must keep up the faith and educate everyone around us. We must ensure that we ramain a Constituional Republic with our rule of law with checks & balances or we may just die under global Tyranny. Time is now to start walking door to door and educate others in the importance of maintaining our Liberties and States power to help its constituents.

Michael are you on Twitter? ok here are some of my follows questions
1. Does the 10th Amendment allow the Federal Government to impose Nationalized Healthcare on the citizens of the US?
2. If it is not in or allowed in the constitution how does it get to the point of being voted on by congress? I missed that day of school.
3. Powers not delegated to the US by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, or to the people
Thanks Michael
