I was thinking today about the 1950's. What an idyllic time in our history. A wonderful time of peace and values. A time when most people knew right from wrong and everybody knew liberty from tyranny. In the distant past I would wonder what happened to that America, but I know what happened. It has everything to do with human nature. Parents that truly want the best for their children have a very hard time teaching lessons that are going to cause their children to be uncomfortable. You can hear it all the time at your local little league games. A big portion of the parents are either absent which is another conversation, or they are screaming at the coach because their child is special and deserves more playing time despite his or her abilities. It's hard not to think that way as a parent. You never want your child to suffer the realities of the world, but in the process the child is spoiled and sheltered from the true world and never realizes the value of earning a place in this world. This can lead to serious problems later on and to the damaged society we now have. I know what you are asking, "Where are you going with this?" Let me explain.

     The 1950's were the product of a generation that had been born or grew up in the great depression. Parents then were trying desperately to feed their children let alone worry about baseball games. Then as soon as these depression era children were of age World War II greeted their early adult years. These people knew hardship, they knew the value of a good day's work and the value of every dollar that you could muster. They fought a world war against the most brutal regimes in modern history. They knew tragedy and extreme hardship. They knew what they didn't want for their children to have to endure, hence the Wally and Beaver, Howdy Doody era baby boomers. Baby boomers were spoiled by their parents and never had to endure anything other than an occasional "duck and cover" drill at school in case that far far away evil power the USSR decided to bomb us. The baby boomers were the first generation to attend college en masse. Academia had always been the den of the leftist but they had been subdued in the McCarthy era 50's. However, this spoiled rotten entitled generation of baby boomers were fresh meat for indoctrination because they could not relate to their depression and war era parents in any aspect of life. They had never had to work for anything so it was nothing for them to develop into what they did.

     Don't get me wrong. Not all baby boomers had it that easy and not all baby boomers turned out to be pot smoking hippie leftists. However enough of them did turn out that way. Enough to define the generation of the 60's. The baby boomer generation is the generation in power in government now and are every bit as radical as they were in the 1960's. The rank and file democrat from the baby boomer generation has the notion that "we are the richest country in the world", so therefore everyone should get health care free from the government. "What's wrong with helping the downtrodden out?" as well as Social Security and every other social program. The hard core leftist has taken advantage of this line of thinking using populist propaganda to increasingly encroach on our rights guaranteed in the Constitution. The depression children looked at the 50's like the best of life while the baby boomers looked at the 50's as oppressive and the 60's as liberating. Once the government is footing the bill you don't need mom and dad. Peace love and hippie beads. As long as there is pot to smoke everything will take care of itself right?. They are going to have a rude wake up sooner than later. We are all headed for a bad trip.

     The baby boomers then went on to adulthood and further entrenched themselves into academia, Wall Street and the government and in the process have used all the capital saved in the thrifty 50's as well as the capital of the next 2 or three generations beyond them that hasn't even been made yet. Generation X'ers, and Generation Y'ers are following the same pattern. But it's getting harder to sustain. In the 50's mom was able to stay home and raise the children because dad made enough money to cover all expenses. In this day and age both spouses must work to get by, and children come home from school alone without a parent to greet them. We all know what has happened as a result of all of this. I am lucky because my mother worked out of the home as a hairdresser and she was never a pot smoking hippie. We learned what the value of a dollar was and that without your word and your honor you were nothing. So in other words I lived my own version of the 50's in the 1970's.

     Now you have the baby boomer leftists in charge in the government and you have 2 or 3 subsequent generations after them all of whom have never had to endure any rock bottom nationwide hardship. They have been given everything virtually free. If not by their parents then by the government. If your parents and your grandparents felt they were entitled, there is no reason not to feel entitled yourself. Hence the problems we face now. Congress is going to pass a bunch of legislation this year before they get booted by people that actually see the storm coming. It doesn't matter though nothing they do is irreversible, it is just leading us further down the path to that rock bottom that I was talking about earlier. I am convinced that a little over half of the people in this country "get it". The rest of them are either mentally challenged by deep-seeded insecurity that perpetuates the leftist radicalism or they are people that do not educate themselves and do not care to know until they are affected directly and to the point of feeling the hard pinch and usually not until they feel the intense pain and the children are suffering the pain as well. We who visit this site know better. We know that shortly down the road of government health care people are going to be very angry with the results. Do they listen to us? No, of course they don't they have never had anything go wrong in their lives. It's been the gravy train for most in America. Even the so-called "poor" here have all the goodies.
 
     I believe that until people in this country feel real pain they are going to go on about life like it's great and keep watching "Seinfeld" re-runs and reality soap operas like there isn't a care in the world. The Axis of Morons (Obama, Reid and Pelosi) are just that because they believe they are creating a power base but in reality they are going to stir a hornets nest when Bubba cannot purchase the latest 100 inch screen HD television flat screen because taxes are through the roof and his health is in the toilet because it is taking 6 months to get an MRI on the knee he destroyed sliding into second base in the adult softball league. Wait until Bubba has to give up 60% of his earning in taxes then another 20% in child support, that's going to be rock bottom. When you don't have enough money for beer it is going to be a tragedy for most of these rock heads. Maybe then we'll have people that pay attention when their liberties and money are being stolen and when tyranny is happening before their very eyes.
