The Commerce Clause Is Leftist For Tyranny
When I first started learning about American history and how the three branches of government work, I was in love. Not with government but with America. I remember thinking how incredible the founding fathers were, to be as insignificant as they were in every aspect to the British but somehow beat the world superpower to gain independence. What a sense of accomplishment that must have been for them. I also remember thinking that after the miracle of a success the Revolution was, they then sat down and crafted the framework in the Constitution for what was to become the most successful nation to ever exist.
My parents were Patriots so of course I was encouraged to satiate my thirst for knowledge of all that was and is America. I read the Constitution when I was 7 or 8 years old and even though I couldn't comprehend all of it I was able to grasp the basics fairly quickly. Being a very inquisitive child I would pepper my parents with questions and most of them were questions as to why the federal government did this or did that. Now you have to understand if you don't remember, that as a child your mind processes everything down to the literal facts. So most of my questions were why does the government do things that are not laid out in the Constitution. Even then I knew there were problems.
Article I Section 8 of the Constitution contains a certain passage that reads like this "Congress shall have the power; To regulate Commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes." from that little phrase in the Constitution, leftists over years and years have created this massive federal government. The key part of the phrase is to regulate commerce among the several states. It is this clause that leftists like Obama use as the basis for the constitutionality of taking over the entire health care industry and everything else they do to the economy. Franklin Roosevelt used it during the Great Depression to justify taking crops from a farmer even if the farmer was only going to use the crops to feed his family. From a leftist interpretation it means that the entire GDP or anything made or produced or imported in this country can be confiscated by the federal government. Is it just me or does that seem way out of touch with what the Founders intended or what we want?
To understand the Founders intentions all you have to do is look at their actions and their writings. Plenty was written by all of the Founders that contradicts the very actions the federal government is taking now. They risked everything to fight for freedom from this kind of overpowering central government. They also wrote extensively about their fears of abuse by a strong central government. Thomas Jefferson himself wrote this:
"I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground that all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people. To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, not longer susceptible of any definition"
This was in reference to the Constitutionality of a National Bank but he gave a pretty broad stroke on the dangers of the federal government extrapolating more and destructive power from the simple but deliberate words of the Constitution. In other words the Founders wanted the federal government to be smaller and less controlling. The state governments especially in his day were alot more accessible than the federal government in Washington for the purpose of the resolution of grievances. The same is true today. It is alot easier to go to the state capital than it is to go to Washington. Also the country was formed on the basis of states rights to govern themselves with certain restricted powers given to the federal government. The fear was absolute power over all leads to tyranny as they had experienced under King George III.
So the question was and remains by what province stated anywhere do Congress and Obama reserve the authority to control what they do or what they plan to? They have no right to do what they have. In fact the federal government starting with the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 has violated the Constitution and the intentions of the Commerce clause thereof. I have been appalled by this for a very long time and believe that it needs to be dealt with by amendment. I have heard from some that it should be challenged to the Supreme Court. However one cannot go that route because the Supreme Court is politicized as well and the Supreme Court does not always follow their mandate either. The Dredd Scott decision is the glaring example of that.
I want people to go online and get a free copy of the Constitution. You can print it online or you can get free pocket copies that fit in any pocket. I love to get into a political discussion and pull out my pocket copy of the Constitution and ask them to read to me where it says that health care is guaranteed and where it says government is allowed to administer it. An even better one is when a leftist tells you that the word is "inalienable" rather than "unalienable". First you chuckle then you ask them if they want to accuse Thomas Jefferson of not being able to spell, then you show them the "Declaration of Independence" (usually the Declaration of Independence is included in the pocket Constitution) and chuckle some more while they recover from the intellectual education at their expense. Leftists all think they are smarter than you if you didn't already know, so rubbing their noses in their own pretense is comical.
If you read it you will have to do a little bit of interpreting the 18th century language but it isn't that difficult. Later, read the writings of the Founders and then decide what you think they meant. The Constitution was a legal document and had to cover alot, but their personal and public writings lead you into the world of their own interpretations of the Constitution. It is fascinating. Only when you read from their hand do you understand what it means to be a true Patriotic Conservative. Everything I have ever learned about the Constitution I learned from their words knowing that their interpretation was the only way that law was to be written in the United States of America. This was supposed to be the same mandate of the Supreme Court but we can all see how skewed that has become especially if you are a certain "Hispanic woman with empathy".
The Constitution will last throughout history as the greatest law ever written for freedom. We as American citizens are compelled to defend the Founders interpretations of the Constitution, otherwise we risk disaster at the hands of tyrants. It is not an evolving, "living, breathing" document. The leftist view of the Constitution means it could be anything they want it to be when they want it to be. That is not acceptable and that is why we are here today to stop the criminals from continually breaking Constitutional law. There are a few more loopholes that have been created by the leftists and I will explain in time, but for now the Commerce clause is the one that needs to be clarified for everyone. The leftists do not want you to read the Constitution or the writings of the Founders because it will educate you and show you how much they are getting away with stealing our freedoms and personal property from us. However I know anyone that reads the "The Patriot Journal" is intelligent in the first place and will pass on their knowledge to the ignorant and apathetic.
