The Basic Conservative Principles For Government

I first have to point out that Conservative Principles for government are in fact the "Founding Principles". The framers of the Constitution spent much time hashing out the Constitution which has guided us to the top of the heap in every aspect in the world. The founders spent alot of time carefully thinking out the future ramifications of their words. Nothing in the Constitution has been overturned by amendment that was written by the founders. Amendments after the Bill of Rights only expand rights or restrict government overreach. The fact that leftist ideologues want to cut the Constitution into pieces and create loopholes to undermine it's authority is why we must reacquaint ourselves with the letter and spirit of the law of the land.

Strong National Defense: This is the most important principle. Without a strong military we wouldn't have anything we have. Other powers would love to overrun our country and take control or at the very least diminish our stature in the world. For some reason leftists in government think that defense spending is the first place to cut for their pet programs. Cutting defense spending is a dangerous thing in any time period but especially now given the global war on Islamic terrorists and the nuclear threat from rogue states by proxy of terrorists. President Reagan took a demoralized, fiscally famished military and built it back up to the top in the world, cut taxes and increased annual government coffers intake by 20%. Everybody remembers the wonderful 80's when conservative government principles were practiced and the military was returned to glory.

Shrink the Federal Government: Over the years the federal government has grown by leaps and bounds. The federal government controls huge swaths of the economy and is the largest land owner in the country. This is not what the founders envisioned. Most of the Executive Cabinet positions are not there lawfully, they were created to grab more control. Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution states in black and white the boundaries of Congress. The leftist members of the past and present have found loopholes in this article to expand their power, namely in the "Commerce Clause" which states that Congress will regulate commerce with foreign nations and between the states and with the Indian tribes.

It says "regulate". Regulate in this sense and what the founders wanted was regulate so that one state wasn't holding other states hostage for their resources etc. It does not mean that the federal government should take over whole industries. Doing what they have done is a violation of the 10th amendment which was sort of the mop up of duties for government that were not given to the federal government. The 10th amendment states that all powers not given to the federal government are reserved to the states and or the people. The federal government is bigger than it was ever meant to be and needs to be cut back down to it's boundaries named in the Constitution.

Cut Taxes: Taxes are necessary for the operation of government and to complete it's tasks per the Constitution. I don't have a problem paying my fair share of taxes and most people do not have a problem. The problem starts when taxes are used to punish or to unconstitutionally tax some, more than others. There is a solution to this called a flat tax. A flat tax would tax everyone with the same percentage we'll say for example it was 20%. Everyone would pay 20% of what they make so if you make more you are going to pay more but you will keep the same percentage of your profits as everyone else. This makes it fair and does not create disparity between classes. The leftists have used the tax code to punish successful people and non-personal business for a long time. This needs to stop and a fair tax would do that.

The problem now is that the federal government has gotten people addicted to government coming to the rescue. Many people expect a government check every month. It's gotten to be common now after 70 some years of Social Security. People do not see that the more they receive from government the more government has a say in their life. The federal government is supposed to be the referee, they are not supposed to play and referee and be biased to one side. That is what they have become, a sort of 800 pound gorilla that also calls the shots of the game.

Service in the government legistature was meant to be as innocuous as jury duty. People should not be able to go to Washington middle class and return millionaires. The problems in Washington are expanding as we can see and it is us the citizens that can change it. We have to reign them in and return to the spirit of the Constitution.

Great prospective and valid points. You have started to help me understand how the Government is ignoring the constitution. As citizens we are not able to sue the House or Senate for non performance of there sworn duty of protecting the spirit and intent of the Constitution. The oversight is the veto of the President.

Now here is the problem, when the President is ignoring the constitution by trying to create a organization for Medical systems this is not just against free enterprise but also from a position of most favored to pollute the bidding process as well as regulating the participation for competition. We are told that this would reduce cost but even the congressional budget office says that the cost would be way outside what is being sold for this program. We have a problem of credibility with the administration seems to have run out a long time ago.

Pinocchio Obama has promised us change and illusions of programs that would help the US but has done nothing but involve us into a power struggle that is not just unconstitutional but loaded with taxes, and invasions of our privacy. The bubble of Washington is not hearing the public who are saying we do not want this.

We are seeing increased employment in the public sector to fill the non value added posts while in the private sector unemployment is out of control. We have been promised a lot of non deliverable. If we will ever see a reduction in taxes, they will need to shrink the dependence on the public sector, remove jobs that truly add no value and cut spending. All of this is not being done presently and this is our concern.
