THEPATRIOTJOURNAL.COM: What A Weekend I Had
What A Weekend I Had
I had the best weekend and I hope that you were having fun as well. I live in Henderson, Nevada a suburb of Las Vegas. Las Vegas has grown alot, but it still has that smaller city feel. For how long it is going to stay like that only God knows. The good part of that aspect is that for a group like Conservatives you can get together at planned events and then still run into people in the grocery store or the 7-11 unplanned later down the road. It is alot easier to create a cohesive group here rather than say New York or Los Angeles if you are starting grass roots.
Friday night I went to a "Citizens Outreach" "First Friday" get together. It was great in that it was casual and serious at the same time. The message was serious but the atmosphere was casual. It was a fun time especially getting to meet fellow conservatives that I am looking forward to meeting again every month on the first Friday. This first edition of First Friday was special. The organizers were able to get Congressman John Shadegg (R) (AZ-3) to speak. He was very cordial and stayed after to talk to whomever wanted to question him. He is one of the very few true Conservatives in the House of Representatives and he is fighting for us, the Conservative majority. I wish all of our Representatives and Senators could govern like this man, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.
Saturday night topped off the weekend with the Las Vegas "Freedom Concert". What an inspiring show it was. I wish I could go to all of them. That might be a future Christmas/Birthday/Christmas after that, all rolled into one present. The concert had Lee Greenwood, The Charlie Daniels Band, Michael W. Smith and Billy Ray Cyrus. They all performed spectacularly and in between we got to hear Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and an emotional satellite telephone link to two soldiers in Iraq with their families on stage at the concert with Colonel Oliver North. What an event!
I have been to the last three Freedom Concerts here in Las Vegas and the other two had lots of people but this time the Orleans arena was packed in full. You couldn't have fit another person in there with a shoe horn. It was completely sold out. Thank God too, all of the proceeds go to the Freedom Alliance scholarship fund for children of parents that have been killed or seriously wounded serving in the military. The true American Heroes. It is a very honorable cause that I am willing to spend what I can to help and be part of.
That was my weekend. I don't believe I will be able to top it next weekend. That is alright though, it gives me the time to educate and convey the conservative message right here at the Patriot Journal and every where I go. I don't need to be anymore inspired than I already am, however it feels really good when you are taken to a higher level with friends in company. Conservatives are the very best friends you could ever have. Thank you for being mine.

Good article Mike. My husband and I went to the Freedom Concert too. We spoke to Oliver North again and had another great conversation. It was nice to see so many great, country loving, Constitutional believing people! Last year was good and this year even better. I had no clue about "First Friday," and I'm disappointed my husband and I missed it. I have been so busy working on national issues I guess I missed the info on "First Friday." I would love the skinny on (Is it Citizen's Outreach or First Friday, or both) if you could send it to me. I am at Twitter (lanettetay) or lanettemail@yahoo.com. I am organizing through my doortodoor.org a grassroots, literally door to door campaign to educate the folks about Harry Reid & his son Rory, and their true interests, their special interests. If you have any interest (Good Lord I have just used "interest" entirely too many times) in helping our vital attempt to retire Harry feel free to contact me at any time. doortodoor's new and hopefully great website is near the end of trademark and copyright touches so you are free to email my personal account I listed above or Twitter. I look forward to hearing from you. I see a few articles you have listed to my left I want to read. Thanks for the info! Lanette Taylor Reply to this

First Friday is when they are going to be held. Every month on the first friday of the month between 5pm and 7pm at Stoney's at 9151 S. Las Vegas Blvd. It's the Antique Mall of America strip mall. The organization that puts it on is called "Citizen's Outreach". I agree with you! Harry Reid and his ilk need to be gone from Nevada and Washington politics. Keep up the good fight we really are the silent majorioty no more, we are the angry majority now! Reply to this
