Proud To Be An American
As the communist Congress and White House try to take away our liberties, there are men and women of the Armed Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq fighting to secure them. Of course I am not the first one to see the irony in that, but I don't think it is pointed out nearly as much as it should be. I am a Patriotic guy and always have been, but my few years in the Marine Corps validated everything. There is nothing more Patriotic than standing on the parade deck with your platoon in full dress blue uniforms. All of this after having been thrashed for 3 months, then your drill instructors tell you that you are now Marines. The history alone sent chills through my body. To know that we were now qualified to be part of a fraternity of men that raised the flag at Iwo Jima was an honor that gives me goose bumps as I type this.
I was an average Marine and although I was in during the Gulf War I never did see combat. However, I feel proud to have been able to have served. There are outstanding men and women that are serving right now that are in danger and are in combat every day. Afghanistan is heating up as Iraq is being slowly taken over by the Iraqi troops. I feel for the troops in Afghanistan, they have a commander in chief that is not thinking of their best interests. I know this because I know how leftists like Obama think. I pray for them all the time. I pray that they all get out of there safely, and do not have stupid politic decisions affecting their physical lives. Vietnam was the terrible example of that.
Saturday night I am going to the Freedom Concert that Sean Hannity and Colonel Oliver North throw every year. It is such a great time, there are Patriotic bands like The Charlie Daniels Band, Michael W. Smith, Billy Ray Cyrus, and of course Lee Greenwood singing "God Bless The U.S.A." Every bit of the money from ticket sales goes to the "Freedom Alliance" which is a non profit charity scholarship for the children of military personnel that were wounded or killed in action. I try and buy the most expensive ticket not only to get the best seat but also so more money goes to the troops and their children. I don't wear my emotions on my sleeve ever, but it is tough to hold out when there isn't a dry eye in the place, after meeting some of the troops and hearing Patriotic songs live. If you ever get the chance, do go to one of them, they are life changing events.
We should all say a prayer for the troops every night. I am sure they are not as comfortable as we are, in the dirt in Afghanistan. They are the reason we can have political debates. They are the reason we have everything that we do, including our freedoms. They are the true Patriots and the true American Heroes. The troops are the ones that make me proud to be an American.

What a wonderful post, and it gave me goosebumps. I pray for our troops every day, and hope that you enjoy the Freedom Concert. What a thrill that will be. I can't hear a marching song without tears welling up, so God bless you and God bless America.

I too think about this everyday and there is not near enough attention on our military in the war zones.
I was watching a Navy Seals documentary on their training and it almost made me cry, I couldn't stand to watch. Just knowing how hard these seals and others train to put their life on the line, they have this usurper call a president to open the doors of the Whitehouse and Capitol Building to every scum bag of communist and Islam he can scrap from the bottom of the barrell. Can we ever forgot how our veterans past and present fought against the Nazis and a brutal dictator of the cold war, so we could be free?
Sad for our troops to come home to a war of another kind in their own country.

We stick up for our veterans and our present serving military personnel. We are who counts to the troops. The leftists are in control of government because they deceived the American people, not because Americans are becoming more leftist. We will defeat these criminals and restore honor to Washington D.C. and continue to love our troops despite the leftist enemies of America. We will be ok I promise.

Hi Michael, As a marine, how do you react to the image of Obama painted white? It's an image desecrating our Commander in Chief.
Also, what's your opinion of talk of secession, talk of not paying taxes, and talk of not filling out the census? I find all of that anti-American and anti-troop.
Instead I'd like to see Republicans argue for proper checks and balances.
Right now the govn't is working to make sure the middle class and the lower class has opportunity. This means we need to regulate Capitalism so the super rich don't take advantage of the rest. It's not about same salary etc. but about opportunity and making sure we have it. There still will be poor, middle class, and rich.

Hello Holly, Being that this is my soapbox and that I pay for it, I usually do not approve comments from leftists. However since you were polite I will respond to you and in doing so post your comment for all to see. I will answer each point.
I do not agree with personal attacks on anyone. Painting Obama's face as the Joker is not going to win any votes either way. However that pales in comparison to what leftists posted and said about George Bush. The difference between you and I are that when I saw the picture I immediately thought of Obama "The Joker" meaning he is a crook. I never even for a second, until you mentioned it in your comment thought of it in a racial sense. Another difference between you and I is that I believe that all men are created equal regardless of race, you obviously do not. Obama is a very bad President because of his ideology not because he is black. If he were conservative I would be campaigning for him.
Secession is not legal except by the rules laid out in the Constitution for the adoption of amendments. Unilateral secession is not legal and would end up in another civil war. However it is our right in the Declaration of Independence to rebel against oppressive government tyranny. Many are beginning to think the current government is approaching that threshold. If you don't pay your taxes you will be thrown in jail ultimately. I would not suggest that approach unless you had 60 million other people that were going to go along with you. I think the idea behind it all is that people are feeling like they are getting their freedoms taken away by this government and I happen to agree with them. As a matter of considering alternatives of fighting back a tax strike is one. It is very Patriotic actually as that is exactly what the colonists did to the British tyranny. The census is the same sort of thing, there are alot of people that believe the census is going to be used against them and they don't want to help someone else hurt them. I have to agree with them.
You say the government is working to make sure the middle class and the lower class have opportunity. I don't think that is what is going on. Opportunity is when there is even playing field left open for all. Taking from some and giving to others does not make opportunity but rather punishes success. I would be embarrassed to say that I was given something that I didn't work for or that I was given something solely based on my race or gender. I have pride that I am self made and all I ask is that I am able to keep the rewards for my hard work. The concept that rich people are only rich because they somehow stole it from someone else is as ridiculous as they come. Is Madonna rich because she exploited? No she made a product and lots of people bought it. The same thing applies to business owners. If you personally have an idea or can perform a service or create a product people will buy you have the chance to become rich as well. Punishing success by stealing it and giving it to people that didn't earn it is going to hurt everything we have. It has never worked and never will no matter how many times it has been tried. Human nature dictates that people will work harder for themselves and loved ones than they ever will for the collective society. If you think logically you know that I am right.
I propose to you that you follow what Martin Luther King said and judge people by the content of their character and not the color of the their skin. I also urge you to go to the post office and stand in line and use other government services, then use the private sector equivalent and you will see that the government cannot do things as well as the private sector. The reason is that there is no accountability in government and we are funding a bottomless pit. Sooner rather than later the golden goose (the taxpayers) are going to stop laying golden eggs for the government to waste. I am every bit as compassionate about humans as you think you are, the difference is in how we deliver it. I want to get the addict into rehab and off the street, you want to give him clean needles, I want to get parents jobs so they can have pride in raising their children, you want to give them welfare. The list is endless. Put your emotional brain away for a minute and think logically and the solutions come flowing out.

Michael, Did you realize Chavez, Castro, Clinton, and Obama are all under the sign of Leo. OOOO yea. Egotistical Manical liars. I knew what a liar he was, but then i was paying attention unlike most persons who don't vote and don't care. How about all the money Axelrod is going to make on advertising? Nancy Pelosi has Californias water turned off. But she has a vineyard in NORCAL. They are all getting rich and richer. Scrambles the brain to think they blatenly get by with this stuff to put it kindly. You should have your articles out in every paper in America right now and plastered It is the ones that don't know who need to know what a bill of goods they are being sold. Thank you Michael.
