THEPATRIOTJOURNAL.COM: The Media Is The Band On The S.S. Obama
The Media Is The Band On The S.S. Obama
The passing of Walter Cronkite this past week made me think back to the news when I was a kid. I remember when no one questioned the objectivity of the news or the reporters on television and radio that brought it to us. Cronkite would come on, give us the rundown and then in a half hour he was gone. The news was accepted as the truth. Most of the reporters back then, including Cronkite were just as far left as they are now. The difference is in Cronkite's day they hid it. Fast forward to today and the scene is the complete opposite. Cronkite didn't "come out" until after he left the anchor chair.
The funny part about it is that by all of them "coming out" they have ruined the rock solid credibility they had with the American people. Now no one accepts the news as the truth. Everyone knows that the mainstream media is in the tank for Obama and they do this at their own peril. I always knew that there was something wrong with some of the individual reporters, but now whole networks and even their parent companies are not only biased leftists, but openly cheerleading the hard left line, with Obama in the wheelhouse steering the ship.
I became a dittohead in 1990 when I first heard Rush Limbaugh. Rush was not just a breath of fresh air, he was an atmosphere of fresh air. Listening to Rush I could have sworn that he was an alien that was reading my brainwaves and then broadcasting them into my radio. Everything he said was exactly what I had said over and over again but could never hear anyone else in the media say. Suffice it to say that 1990 was my awakening to the bias of the media. From then on I have never given them my time. I can watch television news now that the FOXNews Channel is available but I rarely do. "But Mike, Rush is just as biased for the rightwing" The difference is that Rush will never ever lie! Rush will state the facts then he will give his opinion. His show is a subjective opinion show but he is as objective as you could possibly get when giving the facts.
That isn't the case with leftists. Dan Rather is a glaring case that proves that leftists will, lie cheat and steal to advance their cause. Rather made up an entire story a month before the elections in 2004 to hurt George W. Bush. It amazed me that he would do this and risk everything he had worked years to achieve. All of the credibility and stature as the man that replaced Cronkite were tossed out the window in an instant. I guess being a leftist was more important to him than guarding his image and legacy. It just goes to show you that I am right about the pernicious nature of leftists. You can never trust them, ever.
I am glad that they all show their true colors now. Everyone knows where they stand and no one takes their words as gospel anymore. In the old days Cronkite commanded alot of sway in public opinion. He is credited by many to have swayed public opinion against the war in Vietnam by stating that the war appeared to have been lost after the 1968 Tet Offensive. Even though we find out later that the North Vietnamese and the Vietcong were defeated everywhere they were fighting. In fact the Tet Offensive losses that the Vietcong suffered ended them as a viable fighting force. Now you have morons like Matt Lauer and Katie Couric who might as well be campaign managers for the left and have no sway whatsoever in public opinion. They all tried to do the same things during the Iraq war, proclaiming the war was lost etc. But we won the war decisively despite them with a President that had a spine.
The hard left turn has put many of the news outlets on terrible financial footing. NBC is the worst and it's news division is slowly going out of business along with CBS, ABC, The Washington Post and the New York Times a once highly respected newspaper. You would think that they would try to move back to the center to save their business but they will not. Now that Obama's poll numbers are going down they are more exposed than ever. I know leftists and they are angry about this. They are angry because despite all of their propping up of Obama nothing they say or do will turn it around. They keep playing the same old leftist tune while they ride the sinking S.S. Obama to the bottom. Good riddance I say.

Excellent, Michael. My sentiments exactly. I remember when listening or watching the news was informative, and when Cronkite took the baton from Edward R. Murrow. Now it's just frustrating and infuriating, and extremely dangerous. Reply to this

Yes you are right it is frustrating, but we are all better informed now and that alone has taken away the power of the network anchors. I am refusing to get angry anymore about the situation, I am continuing to be happy with the little victories and the satisfaction of crushing Marxism in my time like our grandparents before us. Michael is right on target. We may see a short sugar high pop from this Keynesian economic approach but it won't last. It can't last because it is not sustainable without "Repeat" dollars like a tax cut would give you. Just look at the great depression. FDR sustained it. He did not end it the great war effort of WWII ended it.
This will have the same effect of winning a scratch ticket for $10K. It will sure make the year you win it a nice year but the following year its gone and you are back to living on what you earn. Now if you had a tax cut of $5K but that was sustained year over year in the third year you will be better off forever. That is how Reagan's tax cut worked and really kicked into gear in 1983!
