The American Dream Is Becoming The American Nightmare

The American Dream to me and I hope most Americans is what is laid out in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness pretty much sum it up. The key word is liberty. What is life without liberty? What kind of happiness can you pursue without liberty? The founding fathers most of all wanted liberty, to conduct their affairs how they saw fit without a distant government oppressing them. As I sit here tonight, I have this awful feeling that I think is similar to what the founding fathers had. I am sickened to think that a distant government is slowly taking my liberties away, slowly making life harder for all of us for the advancement of itself. The defiance of this government against the will of the people and the complicity of apathy from those that know better is not only making me sick but making me fearful. The founding fathers knew that they were going to make huge sacrifices to achieve what they did and that more than likely they were going to end up at the end of a rope. The odds were against them heavily to succeed. They were afraid for their lives. I am starting to feel afraid not only for my way of life, but for my life period. We are all going down a road that if not corrected is going to end up very badly for America. If this problem cannot be corrected in a civil manner it will be corrected in an uncivil manner. That is why I am afraid.

President Obama and the far left Congress are passing legislation that is going to fundamentally change the way we live and will decide whether or not we freeze in the winter or bake in the summer or whether we will be able to put bread on the table or even be able to work. The Cap & Trade bill (the take over of the energy industry), socialized medicine, the take over of the financial system and the auto industry is just the beginning. Next will come natural resources and slowly but surely states rights. In the end we will be forced to rely on government for existence. This is bad, so very bad! The law of the Constitution is being broken. Treason is happening and most of us are trying to pick our jaws off the ground. The scary part comes when the jaw is back in place and the anger starts brewing.

This all sounds crazy doesn't it? Hell, maybe I am a loon. But, have you asked yourself what your breaking point is? At what point has it gone too far? At what point does the government stop representing you and your family and becomes an enemy? I pray it never does, hopefully in Nov. of 2010 Congress will lose huge and we start the recovery process and God willing 2012 will give us a new Constitution respecting President. The what if's that are going on in all of our minds are bad ones now, not good ones. I might sound crazy to you, but I am bracing because history tells me to. Tyranny is always disguised in a fog of goodwill populism, ask Germans that were alive in the 30's. The very fact that we have to worry that our 2nd Amendment rights might be in danger is a fear that keeps me up at night writing when I should be sleeping. Everyone that reads this has to ask themselves what their tipping point is. When and where do you draw the line in the sand for you, your family, and your country? Let us all pray that we are laughing about this post sometime in the near future and everything is ok. Let's hope and pray that the American dream remains a reality and does not become the American nightmare.

Dear Mr. Loon, Naw, you aren't crazy. More and more people are starting to see what the man and his cronies really are. I've seen news articles where secession movements in many states are picking up steam. I understand the several states (20 was what one report stated) have filed suit against the federal government over state rights issues. And I'm sure the wackos in Idaho are counting their bullets and sharpening the knives to cause as much problems as they can.

But we have survived bad presidents before. In an earlier article you wrote how you believed that the president is a sinking ship and how 2010 will be a good year for conservatism. And I believe it can be.

We have to continue to get the word out where we can. There are some, that no matter what you say and facts you present them, you will never convince them. So place these people on the bottom of you list. They may have to learn for themselves.

Just talking to each other, the like minded, to me is like wallowing in the mud. We need to start with family and friends who aren't paying attention, and get them on board. We also need to get the nonparticipants to start thinking about things other than who got eliminated from American Idol.

Anyway, I'm done rambling. And I did it in only 1338 characters. Good to see you back from vacation

Thank you very much for the kind words. There are times when I am very tired and do not want to type on a computer but letters like yours light a fire under me for sure, thank you again. I think there are alot more of us that believe the same things that we do, and we are not going to let our country go by the wayside for nothing. We need to be optomistic and never ever quit on America.
