God And Christ At The Founding And Beyond
I already know what some people are going to say when they read the title of this entry. "Damn Bible thumper, forcing his faith on people". Not true at all. The purpose of this entry is to explain how important faith was to the Founding Fathers, how it affected the creation of our country and how we are enjoying freedom because of their faith in the Christian God and Christ. The Founders knew they had to base the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution on the Bible. It was why they were in the colonies in the first place. No they didn't go line for line like a Muslim country with Sharia Law in an attempt to control the population. They were fighting against that with England. They did the exact opposite and gave us all the freedoms that God affords us in Christianity. It is true that there is God's law in the Ten Commandments and some of those are enforced now in state and federal law but they aren't meant to control you but to protect you. Murder is a prime example.
Everyone seems to forget the story of the pilgrims. The word pilgrim means someone on a pilgrimage, which means going someplace to worship in peace. From the early 1600's up until the early 1700's most of the settlers that came to America were seeking religious freedom. That is why in the Constitution one of the bill of rights is the freedom of religion and also it says Congress shall pass no law to establish a religion. Some take this as the separation of church and state. That is false. What the Founders meant was that they wanted people to be able to worship how they wanted and not be mandated by law to any denomination. The pilgrims left England because King Henry VIII had broken from the Roman Catholic church and established the Church of England and anyone that wasn't part of that church was persecuted. The Founders did not want this they wanted freedom. It doesn't mean that they wanted atheists to file lawsuits to remove nativity scenes at the public library.
The Founders were Conservatives in every sense of the word and faith and freedom were their prime motivators. The reason that faith was so important at the founding was because the new nation was created from those solid beliefs and they were the best for freedom, anything else would not have been as successful as we can now see. As humans grow old and pass on to their children what they learned they always leave some out by accident or forgetting. The next generation needs to know what everything is based on or they are baseless and adrift by definition. The current generation is moving away from faith unfortunately. It is like anything you learn, first you learn the basics then you try and improve on what comes after that. That is how as a nation we have come this far and the basics that have guided us are set in stone. Basic stone number one is The Holy Bible, which was the foundation for The Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. Now don't get me wrong, you don't have to be a Christian to be an American but you should know that the freedoms you enjoy in this country are because of the Bible and Christians from the Founding.

There are those who blame societies ills on religion. But Christians have formed countless orphanages, hospitals and do countless good each day. One of the reasons our free society has achieved has been Christianity. As our society rejects God we see more people suing each other and becoming more centered on themselves. Those who rightouesly try to drive God from our society are not helping America they are hurting it. Reply to this
